The source also said there was a report of one shooting but did not specify where. 14:20 21Jul2005 INSTANT VIEW-Explosions reported on London tube, bus However, this is not thought to be on the scale of the previous London attack... SHANE BRIGHTON, ROYAL UNITED SERVICES INSTITUTE There doesn't seem to be any report of any substantial blasts. The worst-case scenario with the non-explosions or minor explosions would be that these are devices that haven't triggered properly. Beyond that, it looks like it may be people messing around, copycat-type stuff. The absence of any clear evidence of substantial blasts means that this is on the face of it at the moment not a follow-up attack of the same proportion. It may be an attempt by people to cause panic, maybe people with similar ideas or ideological sympathy with the people that did the recent bombings...The nature of the incidents doesn't appear to be anything like as serious. Latest rumour is that they were tear-gas cannisters. Also looks like the only injury is one of the perpetrators, which, if true, is kind of poetic.

15:02 21Jul2005 RTRS-UPDATE 5-Up to four bombs hit London transport system (Updates with London police chief, witness reports) By Tim Castle and Matt Bigg LONDON, July 21 (Reuters) - Up to four bombs hit London's transport system on Thursday, exactly two weeks after more than 50 people were killed in blasts on underground railway trains and a bus. London police chief Ian Blair said: ""We know that we've had four explosions or attempts at explosions. It is still pretty unclear as to what's happened." "At the moment, the casualty numbers appear to be very low in the explosions. The bombs appear to be smaller than the last occasion," he added. Bomb attacks on three undergound trains and a bus in London killed 56 people, including the four bombers, on July 7. Witnesses said they had seen what could have been a would-be bomber running away after dropping a rucksack on one of the trains. "We all got off on the platform and the guy just ran and started running up the escalator," one witness who gave her name as Andrea told the BBC. "Everyone was screaming for someone to stop him. He ran past me...and he ran out of the station. In fact he left a bag on the train," she said. Passengers were evacuated off a bus in Hackney, east London, and police cordoned off streets nearby. The bus company said a blast blew out the windows of the bus but a police officer on the scene said there were no signs of damage. A police officer told Reuters: "The bus driver heard a bang at the back of the bus. He thought it was probably a vehicle that had hit him. "He stopped at a nearby bus stop and saw a suspect package at the back of the bus." The fire brigade put on protective clothing before moving towards the bus. Prime Minister Tony Blair called off a press conference with visiting Australian leader John Howard and officials said he would be making a statement later after convening a crisis meeting of emergency officials and ministers. The Fire Brigade said Warren Street underground station was evacuated after reports smoke was seen coming out of a train. A television reporter at Oval underground station said police had cordoned off the area and brought in sniffer dogs. London transport officials said four underground lines had been suspended but overground trains were running as was the Eurostar train to France. The British capital was still jittery after the July 7 bomb blasts. They were were being marked on Thursday with a memorial service at the scen

Looks like the B-Team. Seems the only person injured is the bomber himself at Warren St. Doh!
If that is true, I'm glad he didn't die - instead of the evil b-----d dying in a second, he will be hurt but survive, and hopefully languish in prison for a long time. Of course, if the person hurt was an innocent victim, I'm sorry for him. Cheers, Vikram.

Sorry, I am not better than that. I am of the firm believe that we need to publicly execute anyone that does one of these attacks and then survives. If they want to die for a cause so bad then I saw let them, but let it be an option to happen at the hands of a family member who lost someone to one of these cowardly attacks. Apparently all these people understand is fear. Lets give them some.

Bit pointless, as they are likely convinced of a fine old time in the afterlife. Life imprisonment seems a much more fitting option. Preferably with suffient pork(either kind) in their diet.

Why? So we can waste money feeding and storing and guarding them? Nope, death, on tv, so thier compatriots can see what happens when we get pissed off.

Not that I'm for the idea of public executions, but don't they already see westernized civilizations (in particular, the US, UK, & Israel) as evil?

Do you remember that Scot we English executed back in the early 14th century? And look what happened after that. Ok, so seriously. Don't give people martyrs, you will be shooting yourself in the foot. You can continue to live in the only country in the civilised world that executes its criminals and the rest of that world will continue to take the moral high ground and look down on you for it. State execution is more costly ($) than life imprisonment. It is purely collective revenge to make unaffected people feel better, and that is sicker than the reason these guys are trying to kill us.

Do you remember that Scott Aye! 'er Wallace! [sorry couldn't resist :-) love the book & the movie] State execution is more costly ($) than life imprisonment. Really? Got any figures? It is purely collective revenge to make unaffected people feel better It's definitely more than that. The state and the District Attorney's office use it as a bargaining chip often: "Tell us where the other bodies are." "What's in it for me?" "We'll take the death penalty off the table, 25 years to life." "I buried them under David Wulff's mail box." You get the picture. I don't really subscribe to the whole "deterrent" theory, but it is most certainly useful as a DA bargaining chip. Further, for purposeful murders, death is the only just retribution, IMO. Question is (for me, at least), do we hand out a full retribution or something seemingly less just, such as lifetime imprisonment? As a believer in Christ, I lean towards the latter, as Jesus pardoned people sentenced to death by the Law. It's hard to say though, I'm not sure Jesus would pardon all of our criminals, more likely only the ones that were truely repentant, and who's to say which of our criminals are repentant?

I'm not sure I understand. Executing a murderer or a mass murderer in public would mean we are evil, as opposed to private execution or lifetime imprisonment?
