When it's inevitable, lay back and enjoy it... I've been assigned to do things I'm in no way qualified to do for many years, without the benefit of the title and higher pay, and much to my surprise I've generally done the job far better than anyone would expect. In most cases, I'm flabbergasted to report, I've managed to do somewhat better than more experienced people have done. My theory is that, handed a task I have no idea how to do, I work harder and pay more attention to details that might lead to failure than someone who does it regularly would give to the task. That lets me catch things that would be overlooked by more experienced people, and gives me a fast education in a brand new skill. Give it your best shot, and I hope you didn't toss all the books for those classes you "knew" you'd never need, but the school made you take anyway. :-D

Problem is, I didn't go to school for anything close to what they want me to do... :-O

that you are going to royally screwed at work today. I found out today in our company meeting that, apparently, I was "promoted" to Systems Engineer. Which means that I get to do things that I am not in any way qualified to do and get yelled at alot for it. I sure hope the job market picks up soon....

Over a 2-3 year period, every time someone got new business cards, he quit. They actually got worried.
