It's only there until someone votes somehting less than a 4, and it's not there now (less than two hours after your original post). Don't get all full of yourself, Sparky.

Having your article in the Latest Best Picks is usually a sure-fire way to attract down-votes (has happened to pretty much every one of my articles in the last few years).

+1. Happened to me this week - I started off with five 5's, and then someone voted a 1.

Yeah you'd be certainly picked on by people who don't agree with your general posts - so they retaliate lamely by voting down your articles. To an extent it's the same with me because even though I am usually not as confrontational and blunt as you are, I do have this tendency to say things that may not always go down well with everyone here. In the long run though, such down votes are usually overcome by the up-votes, so it is not that big deal for folks like us who have lots of articles here. But it can be pretty discouraging for someone writing his first article to get down voted merely because somebody else didn't like seeing his article in the Best Picks list.

              Regards, Nish

Yeah, after that happens, the best we can hope for is to have more level-headed (and higher rated) individuals vote to remove the 1-vote post.
