One other option: depends For me, it depends on what I'm coding. I'm working on a game, I usually will listen to Techo, but if I'm coding my latest and greated windows utility, it's usually Enya... So don't make it an all or nothing option... Programming in binary is as easy as 01 10 11.

And also; 1. Nose flute music - yes, it exists! 2. Broadway / Music Hall 3. Folk 4. Country (NOT at all the same as folk even though people lump them together) 5. Neo-classical / modern 6. Filmic I'm sure there are WAY too many for a poll. but I would say the broader categories would be; Art music (instrumental or vocal) Folk music (instrumental or vocal) Rock - classic Rock - contempory Popular / "electro-pop" Music hall / filmic Jazz / big band Blues Film Hip-hop, R&B Metal Easy listening / chillout "Classical" music is technically stuff written between ~1750 - 1800 yet people use this label for anything vaguely classical-sounding, although the correct terms are medieval (pre 1600), baroque (1600-1750) inc both early baroque and late baroque, classical (1750 - 1800 I think), romantic (1800-1900), and modern (post 1900). By referring to this under the label art music you get around all that mess AND include operatic works, songs, orchestral works, and sonatas in the same bag. An opera is a bit like a musical except the music is in a specific style, and interestingly all composers wrote their operas using the same story for years; the story was that of the girl who got taken to the underworld and this guy tried to save her but he wasn't allowed to look back as he walked out of hell, of course he did look back and lost her forever. Thus endeth the lesson :-D. -- Andrew.

Chris we can modify the question to :- "What do you do alongside programming?" and the multiple choice check-box answers can be :- [people may tick more than once check-box] (1) Listen to music [mp3] (2) Post on the Lounge (3) Browse through porn sites (4) Chat on an IM [sonork/icq] (5) Eat & drink [chips/coke etc.] (6) Smoke (7) Play desktop games [eg:- miniputt/invasion/RaceX] (8) Read a magazine [paper mag not e-mag] Nish Bow wow wow, Yippee yo yippee yay, My miniputt high, Is now 30 yay.
