Hi all This is time to think about what happens after saudis finish digging all thier oil reserves. Scientists have pointed out that the oil reserves in saudi arabia will come to an end within 60 years . Now the big question... What will the sheikhs do after that ? What will the goverment do after that ? How will they still be rich ? What will be the alternative means of earning money in that good(??!!!) old land after thier one and only source of income come to an end ? This throws open a lot of bizzare events to my eyes ...I wish i will live long enough to see how these people get adapted to thier old camel riding economy ...:-D:laugh::cool: There will never be any more Osamas as camels do not shit enough to buy a stinger launcher ... Long live the stupidity of saudis who are still ignorant of any ideas required to reshape thier economy independent of oil sales business .... Long line US for making sure saudis dig out as much oil as quickly as possible so that they dump excessive oil in bunkers sufficent to last for a century ....(Nomstradamus in me prophecies => The world lining up in front of US or Europe or Japan to beg for alternative fuel or source of energy ) Long live US for its policy of keeping its alaskan oil reserves intact (Long live russia for having sold it for a pittance) Oohhh.... Again , when i think about how the mullahs and sheikhs re-start riding camels in saudi ..i am not able to touch VC editor at all ... Ok ..Good morning redindian

Wow - how dumb. So you think these folks have lots of weapons, and they'll be quite happy to put them down and go back to riding camels in the desert ? // Long line US for making sure saudis dig out as much oil as quickly as possible ROTFL - the reason the Saudis are rich is because they get the oil out easily and they sell it at the cost of pulling oil out of harder fields, i.e. they don't discount, and they control enough supply to wreak havoc when they want to. // Long live US for its policy of keeping its alaskan oil reserves intact Not without a fight. Yep , this is certainly the case, oil reserves will end in 60 yrs. they should build nuclear energy sources using their money. put half the money available now in the fixed deposits in swiss banks so when the crisis will start they can survive on that money. they should sell sand to other countries which can be used in construction. they should sell finest dates.

How do you know where their money is ? Or what their plans are ? I suspect their plans will involve *guns*, not dates. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

It interesting how all the greenies used to get into a tizzy about nuclear energy but look what is threatening to stuff the planet: fossil fuels. In hindsight I think the greenies should have championed the cause of nuclear energy - It just might save the world. The current world political situation makes the nuclear energy situation awkward however. For example, on the one hand you have Iran's determination to become nuclear and the world is understandably concerned. But on the other hand surely we need more people to turn away from fossil fuels and one of the only large scale alternatives is nuclear energy. Steve

I was wondering if someone would bring up Chernobyl. Still, how many Chernobyls equals one global warming? For example, if the sea level rises too much it will be a disaster that eclipses Chernobyl. Still, your point is taken. Steve

Nuclear energy is for the moment the best alternative, but there is no reason to be happy about it.

world is going to go back to basics. We all wil be tarzens, wearing those big leaves around our crotches, will be eating raw fish, meat and leaves. There will not be oil, no proper water.. world is heating up.. more earthquakes, water storms are coming. this 1010101 technology wont do much without any energy.

Yes, that's no bad idea. I did so for myself. But there is a big problem: where to store it? You need a really big warehouse to keep multiple tons of gold - guards and so on. So I decided to buy eggsized diamonds instead. :-> ------------------------------ PROST Roleplaying Game War doesn't determine who's right. War determines who's left.

I once read a statistic that the entire arab world produces less (in terms of inductry) than norway. Once the oil runs out I doubt very much whether anyone will have any real interest in the middle east, its a hole of a place anyway. Oil is the only thing it has going for it. As for chernobyl, that was just the ruski's spoiling it for the rest of us. If it hadn't been for their sub standard working practices then nuclear power wouldn't have gotten such a bad name.

And I am stocking uncontaminated drinking water, which I will sell you at one eggsized diamond per liter when the crisis comes. :)
