I don't want to kill 'em, I just want them to go back across the fuckin border if they don't like their life here in the States.. ------- sig starts "Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

They do like their lives here. That's why they want to stay so bad. Here's an intersting twist on the problem. There are currently 7 million unemployed Americans and 11 million illegals. I don't know how the details work out, but it appears that there simply aren't enough Americans to satisfy all the jobs our economy needs.

Like I've always said - I'm not against immigration, I'm against ILLEGAL immigration. I'm in the same boat. I just think it's interesting. Nobody wants them here (illegally) but at the same time our economy seems to kind of need them here. I think the solution is simple. In exchange for amnesty, each illegal must contribute to the building of 1 foot of wall between America and Mexico (including the costs as defined by the specs). It's a 10 million foot border, so that would work out well! We get to keep our cheap labor and our border becomes secure!

What a crock of refried shit. Since all the wetbacks will be in one place on Monday, the governemnt should take the opportunity to push them ALL back across the border. This will probably be the last chance they (the federal government) will have to effect real change. Here's another suggestion - refuse all services (transporation, medical, state assistance, legal, retail, etc) to anyone participating for that day. ------- sig starts "Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 -- modified at 9:02 Friday 28th April, 2006

But the participants in the rally are illegal immigrants, and thus won't have stuff like SSNs, Driving Licenses etc. So they wouldn't be able to take advantage of medical assistance or anything like that, right? Or is it possible for an illegal immigrant to have stuff like SSNs, IDs etc. ? Regards, Nish

They falisify a lot of that information or obtain it illegally. My understanding is that hospital emergency rooms can't turn patients away.

Not entirely correct. There are 7 million people who count as unemployed, there are many many more who don't count for one reason or another, generally because they have given up or their unemployment has ended so they are without any type of income.

Hospitals in the US are required by law to provide treatment to anyone who presents at the emergengy room door. No Id, no means to pay required. Public Education is the same deal, no proof of citizenship or proof of legal residence required. Both are heavily used by illegal immigrants... And you don't have to have a drivers license or insurance to drive, that is only required to drive legally. We need to graduate from the ridiculous notion that greed is some kind of elixir for capitalism - it's the downfall of capitalism. Self-interest, maybe, but self-interest run amok does not serve anyone. The core value of conscious capitalism is enlightened self-interest. Yeah, whatever. That political BS might work on the gullible in poor economic times, but not now. There are many people who don't seek work, but that's because they choose not to (i.e. they're rich, their spouse works and they want to stay at home, they're hippes, etc...). In America it's your right to be a hobo if you're to lazy to get a job. That has no bearing on labor statistics.

What political BULLSHIT would you be refering to? I really didn't see any politics in the statement that I made. I simply stated that in the unemployement numbers are based on a flawed survey system in which even highly educated people are rolled off the back end. When your unemployment ends, regardless of whether you are looking for work or not, you are taken out of the pool.

It's political because that claim is used in an attempt to make employment situations worse than they actually are. That claim was frequently thrown around by the Kerry campaign. You're also completely wrong. The unemployment figure is not based on those that actually receive unemployment. It's based on a random 60,000 person sample of people who are working or not working and seeking work (link[^]) "Some people think that to get these figures on unemployment the Government uses the number of persons filing claims for unemployment insurance (UI) benefits under State or Federal Government programs. But some people are still jobless when their benefits run out, and many more are not eligible at all or delay or never apply for benefits. So, quite clearly, UI information cannot be used as a source for complete information on the number of unemployed."... "Because unemployment insurance records relate only to persons who have applied for such benefits, and since it is impractical to actually count every unemployed person each month, the Government conducts a monthly sample survey called the Current Population Survey (CPS) to measure the extent of unemployment in the country. The CPS has been conducted in the United States every month since 1940 when it began as a Work Projects Administration project. It has been expanded and modified several times since then. As explained later, the CPS estimates, beginning in 1994, reflect the results of a major redesign of the survey. There are about 60,000 households in the sample for this survey. The sample is selected so as to be representative of the entire population of the United States. In order to select the sample, first, the 3,141 counties and county-equivalent cities in the country are grouped into 1,973 geographic areas. The Bureau of the Census then designs and selects a sample consisting of 754 of these geographic areas to represent each State and the District of Columbia. The sample is a State-based design and reflects urban and rural areas, different types of industrial and farming areas, and the major geographic divisions of each State. "

First of all, the claim is used by all sides to promote their agenda, the dems say things are worse so they can start new special programs that make people dependent on them, and the Reps like money from big business so they want us to think that everyone has a job and we need to bring in more labor or outsource when in reality they just want to drive down labor costs more so CEO's can take home a bigger severance package when they bankrupt a corporation. Secondly, I'm not "completely wrong", I stated that the numbers were based on a flawed survey which you actaully support with your brilliant research. My last statement wasn't entirely correct but my point is that the survey method doesn't really generate accurate numbers, and that in this inaccuracy almost always leaves the number on the low side. I can tell you the number of 1 votes they you generally receive in every post that it's not worth arguing with you, SO GO GET YOUR FUCKING SHINEBOX!
