Is that a nervous laugh? Or do you really want her to run away?

I'm not. Programming's fun and it is easy to get wrapped up in the project of the day, but you have to step back and enjoy the myriad other things in life as well. Like your wife. It's a pretty serious issue already if she's complaining about it often. So if you value her happiness and your marriage I'd advise to step away from the keyboard and go hang out with your wife. Maybe come up with acceptable rules for time coding, or set aside time for the two of you. Mind you, I'm not married, but I've known couples where this type of lack of affection ended out with an affair. I'm not suggesting your wife would go that route, but even if she doesn't she won't be happy. Good Luck, man. BW

The blokes a twat. My wife's complaining too, but it's cause I want it all the time. Fuck work and fuck the computer, they come a long way after sex in the big scheme of things. Jesus. I couldn't imagine losing my sex drive! Try working less, getting out of the house for some fresh air and exercise and perhaps look at changing your diet. Mate, if you are spending all your time in front of a computer, your marriage is going to end up down the toilet - what's more important - your wifes happiness or a sort algorithm? Get a grip before it's too late and you end up divorced.

No way! Man, you really need to get a life. Believe me, it might even help make you a better professional. In the long run when (and if) you grow in your profession you'll need to know about more things than programming (e.g.:people). Also, it is likelly that you'll face professional frustations. It will be easier to handle them if your life is not just bits and bytes. Oh, BTW, read "Peopleware" by Tom DeMarco. He explains all of this much better than me. Patriotism is the willingness to kill and be killed for trivial reasons. Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970) Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it. George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950) Patriotism is often an arbitrary veneration of real estate above principles. George Jean Nathan (1882 - 1958) Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. Samuel Johnson (1709 - 1784)

Dude. It's 'aught six, modern times, and you need to learn to multi-task. I'm in bed right now, with my laptop and my wife, and although it's hard to tell in the case of the laptop, trust me - all three of us are relaxed and satisfied. ;) Sometimes, the worst thing you can do is focus exclusively on one thing. I've wasted whole days staring at code looking for a bug, only to have the solution come to me within minutes of taking a break. But if you really must keep thinking consciously about a problem once you go to bed, at least wait until things have... gotten under way. If you still can't enjoy yourself, at least your wife should be able to...

Try and think of how it'd have been the other way. Imagine how it would have been if your wife just sits and works on her laptop all the time and ignores you. Try and make up to the poor woman - else it would be a grossly unfair way to treat your wife. Regards, Nish

Fuck work and fuck the computer, they come a long way after sex in the big scheme of things. Michael Martin Australia "I controlled my laughter and simple said "No,I am very busy,so I can't write any code for you". The moment they heard this all the smiling face turned into a sad looking face and one of them farted. So I had to leave the place as soon as possible." - Mr.Prakash 24/04/2004

Well I'm not in a position to give informed advice as my life is a wreak for unfortunate health reason. But my belief is that sex drive is a sign of healthy individual. And if you loose it, it's not so much computer related that you have some nasty health issue you are not clearly aware of. I would say beware, watch out! Well I say that perhaps because I'm a sick man :~ But anyway, it's always good to know what's leading you... and why...
