counting how often someone held a door open. At least in Kerala, it would be very odd to hold a door open for someone. In some cases, if you did that, they'd pause and wait as they'd be totally puzzled why you were holding it open. It's a culture thing I guess. Regards, Nish

that the article doesn't have a link to the data or the list. No soup for you! Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] When no one was looking, every single American woman between the ages of 18 and 32 went out and got a tatoo just above their rumpus. [link[^]]

Thanks Ed. I was interested to see if any Canadian cities were part of the list and sure enough, there's Toronto as number three. Chris Meech I am Canadian. From the article: "The average politeness level of the world was found to be 55 per cent" God, I hope I am not in the 45% with the rest of those wankers. :) Hey don't worry, I can handle it. I took something. I can see things no one else can see. Why are you dressed like that? - Jack Burton

Okay, that explains all these folks opening doors and saying thank you/hello/sorry all the time :-) Regards, Nish

I can't believe Madrid made the top half of the list. Every time I went anywhere I was greeted with an "Eh!!!" (so, my Spanish wasn't perfect - a simple request to repeat what I had said would be nice)

No problem and I'm sorry if you thought I meant you being rude. The comment was directed at the article you linked. It struck me odd that an article that discusses the results of some 'survey' wouldn't actually contain a link to the survey itself. I didn't mean to blame you for that as you didn't write the article, merely provided a link to it. :) Chris Meech I am Canadian.
