This question reminds me of the fellow who lost his grandfather and someone responded with a comment of finding Jesus Christ otherwise there is "no hope." To lump females into one big category like this is completely unfair. At the same time, I took Mammilian Physiology in college and we studied the effects of hormones during the estrus cycle. If you studied what actually happens to the brain and body, it's no wonder why women are in a "bad mood." We are in pain, having hot flashes, bloated and nothing satisfies. Some women have to go on perscription medication because of the effects. I had to go on medication at 14 because of such cramping. Today I'm on a medication so I don't have my period at all and don't have to feel the horrible side effects. (Sorry if this is getting too personal for you all.) To just say, "Yep, period," and be done with it is not only insensitive but inhumane. Ask what you can do to make it better. Cold press for your head? Heating pad for your abdomen? Go to the store for ice cream? Your girl will feel better mentally and therefore physically if she knows you understand and care about the problem rather than just throwing your hands up in the air. That's my two cents worth, and no, you can't ask for change.

      Yeah, it's pretty weak.

So your trip to Idaho didn't go all that well, eh?

Actually it was the opposite. It went well generally. We went to water park the second day, and she told me that was the most fun day she has had for a long time and thanked me. I almost had tears in my eyes when I heard that. She was on her period, and she got annoyed more easily than usual and said whatever she had in her mind regardless of how it would make me feel (she was never like this before), so I figured that either it must be related to her period or we are closer than before. ;)

You really don't get it. Every time you have anything to do with miss whatshername, you post something really dumb. This thread is a perfect indicator of that, and so there must be some scientific explanation for it. For what it's worth (probably not much to you), I've NEVER met a woman who's in a bad mood during that time of the month. But you're not me... Mike Poz

Indeed there is, and you're lucky to have asked here at the CodeProject lounge because I am the only person in the world who knows the true answer. You see, over the course of human history there have been a significant number of male homosapiens with intellectual capacities insufficient to allow for efficient and effective interaction with his external surroundings. The side-effects of said condition include the inability to form and execute hunting formations with fellow homosapiens, the inability to convey considerate and meaningful statements to others, and more. Considering the disadvantage this condition imposes on the male and, indirectly, the rest of the species, Nature has provided a way to prevent those males from procreating. Being the subtle genius Nature is, the solution lies nestled deep within the females of the species. Periodically the females will enter a state of extreme discomfort, which can lead to brief agitation and other types of irritation. The males afflicted with the above mentioned condition will expose their problem via making obnoxious and (inevitably, stupid) comments about the mood of the female during this period. The female, upon noticing this rash behavior, is armed with the knowledge that she has accidentally taken with an undesirable mate, and prompty terminates further contact with the afflicted. Josh

You know I was going to say something but I figured you were close by and it would mean more coming from you. How do you feel about being disrespected in such a way? I'm a tad angry by the post because my wife is included in "...girls are usually..." and I'd never disrespect her in such a demeaning way. I need to tread carefully as I'm trying really hard to keep my temper in check. But if you feel the occassion to let him have it for being ignorant you have my blessings (my wife's to I might add).:rose:

How about I tell him I have my period and then he wont try anything and I can milk him all weekend long." Thats just a theory. She way very well be the kind of person that would not think that way and I hope she is but as I said to you before I suspect she is taking you for a ride. You could always ask her "how do you feel?" or "is somthing wrong?" Did she put her hand in her pocket at all? This is what you should do. Get her alone, look her in the eye and say "I like you very much, I want you to be my girlfriend". Do not, I repeat, DO NOT say I love you. Get it out in the open and get it over with. Yea, its true, and it has scientific evidence. Hormones called estradiol and progestrone play vital role in it. see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menstrual\_cycle for more information

A friend of mine was pitching a sandlot baseball game and took a line drive. Ouch.

Yeah, ouch. I think that is why protective cups are sold at sporting goods stores.

If you studied what actually happens to the brain and body, it's no wonder why women are in a "bad mood." We are in pain, having hot flashes, bloated and nothing satisfies.

So, there is hormones changing during the period? This must be the scientific explanation I'm looking for. Thanks. :)

Yeah. So when it's period time, run for the hills.
