(Link may require free registration.) As stunned Lebanese returned Tuesday over broken roads to shattered apartments in the south, it increasingly seemed that the beneficiary of the destruction was most likely to be Hezbollah. A major reason — in addition to its hard-won reputation as the only Arab force that fought Israel to a standstill — is that it is already dominating the efforts to rebuild with a torrent of money from oil-rich Iran. ... While the Israelis began their withdrawal, hundreds of Hezbollah members spread over dozens of villages across southern Lebanon began cleaning, organizing and surveying damage. Men on bulldozers were busy cutting lanes through giant piles of rubble. ... In Sreifa, a Hezbollah official said the group would offer an initial $10,000 to residents to help pay for the year of rent, to buy new furniture and to help feed families.[^]

Amazing that the press have suddenly found them, it's like they disappeared for the last few weeks. Do you think John Gacy should be remembered for his work as a children's entertainer and charitable fundraising activities by the way?

Hezbollah rocks, you see a problem with this ?

You don't see a WTF in spawning hundreds of threads ?? Or using code found on places like codeproject.com in production applications ... Code that is most likely untested, or barely test, more often than not, not made by reputable developers/development groups/etc ?? .... Wow ...

Do you think Hezbollah should be remembered as the freedom fighters who drove Israel out of Lebanon twice within the past decade?

Not if they adhere more to providing social services and less to kidnapping foreign soldiers.

Drove Israel out? At best it was a stand-off. What fantasy pill are you taking?

I agree, too bad so many will remember them the way Ed suggests. Where are all the comments by Lieberman and Cheney citing this as an event that will "embolden the Al Qaida types"?

You won't hear such statements from Republicans like Lieberman and Cheney because that would mean Israel didn't win the war. After all, Bush proclaimed it a huge victory for Israel.

Um..Israel is still there. And it was hezbollah and their supports who were screaming for a cease fire. Nice revisionism, and in such a short amout of time.

Despite the public reappearance of armed Hizbullah gunmen in southern Lebanon, senior IDF officers said Wednesday that Israel would uphold the cease-fire and begin to gradually withdraw its forces ahead of the deployment of the Lebanese army in the south.[^]

Hezbollah rocks, you see a problem with this ?

You don't see a WTF in spawning hundreds of threads ?? Or using code found on places like codeproject.com in production applications ... Code that is most likely untested, or barely test, more often than not, not made by reputable developers/development groups/etc ?? .... Wow ...
