I bet heaven and hell are partitioned into separate provinces - one for each religion. And there's probably some unmarked territory outside the hell/heaven regions for us atheists.

That sounds alot like the santa claus fairy tale, parents telling their kids that santa claus will only give christmas presents to children who believe in him.

I was pointing out verses from the Bible that show that acording to Jesus/ the NT, belief is not what counts - what counts is your life: whether you love and care about others. So Christians who say "all you have to do is just believe" or "if you don't believe you're going to hell", are saying something contrary to the teachings of the one they follow. I thought the verses would be self-explanatory to that effect, but perhaps not. Or is it the mere fact that I posted verses that is unacceptable?

I'd wager that would be the case. And while I don't believe in God, I do believe in your right to talk about what you believe in, so I'm one of the crazy fools that voted you up to balance things out. :-D

Thank you! :-) There's a lot of intolerance going on from all camps (Christians included), and it saddens me. How can we hope to live in harmony with each other if we don't come to understand each other's point of view? We can't live in peace or solve the problems in the world unless we work together, and we can't work together unless we understand each other. I work with Atheists, Buddhists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Pantheists in my community towards peace, justice, and harmony, and I can say from firsthand observation that censoring discussion of people's viewpoints (religious or otherwise) builds friction rather than alleiviating it.

Of course, depending on what sect you belong to, if you don't do it right, you're still not gonna get any salvation!

That's the sad part. Most people don't want to understand another's view, they want other people to believe their view. Until that changes, it'll always be the case.
