There wasn't much information in that artical but I suspect he was angry because he didn't have a computer and all he was allowed to do is study and build furniture with primitive tools. Those people have to be the most miserable people alive.

I agree. They need to get with the program. This isn't the 1700s I suspect mental illness is a problem for those people. The poor kids who get born as an Amish need to be helped because they should'nt be forced to live life that way, it is damaging to them.

:) There wasn't much information at all. We don't know he was Amish. There are differing reports of how many people are actually dead vs. wounded. It's a grim situation... let's wait for the facts.

I was thinking more about the Amish teenagers. Teenagers are the ones who are the most unstable and if I were living life primitively when I was aware of the great technologies and conforts that exist I would be extremeley miserable. Here is something interesting from Wiki Several recent high-profile cases have brought attention to sexual abuse of children among the Amish, which has been called "almost a plague in some communities."[9] Bishops and preachers of Old Order groups settle conflicts and mete out punishment for sins (generally in the form of shunning), and sexual abuse is therefore never reported to law enforcement. Those who feel they are mistreated have little recourse and may be shunned for seeking outside help. Mary Byler was raped over a hundred times between the ages of 8 and 14 by her brothers; she had to leave the Amish community to have them prosecuted.[10][11] David Yoder, who grew up in a conservative Swartzentruber Amish family, recalls one man who committed incest with his daughter and was punished with 90 days of shunning.[12] Yoder's girlfriend was also repeatedly raped by her brother-in-law, who was ultimately shunned for two and a half months.[13] Some groups have also been accused of tolerating severe physical abuse of children.[14] There is no evidence that physical or sexual abuse is more frequent among the Amish than in the general population, but popular perceptions of the Amish make abuse more striking.

I just read an article that said the shooter was 32 years old and didn't seem to indicate that he was living the Amish lifestyle - jumping to conclusions perhaps?
