Christian, So your saying that developing a good software could cost over 50 - 100k. Dam that is out of my budget........I wonder how many cool projects can't get done cause of blood sucking? Anyways thanks for your informative reply!:^)

So people that have spent a lifetime learning how to develop software and "get paid" for it is "blood sucking". Well you could always learn how and then do it yourself right, I wonder how long it would take and what it would cost you that way?

Learning is part of life ......alright I am a Civil Engineer and as such no little of software development except that C++ was my toughest course....but be it programming, doctor, blood sucking lawyers, engineers or what have you...we all work hard to get to were we are but that does not mean we need to make it just as hard or harder for the next guy....the simple thing is that maybe I need to forget about going after my dreams......at least for now:~

Civil engineer eh? So if i asked you to build me a bridge for 8k, that would take you a year of work to accomplish, and you told me that it would cost 100k to do that, it would be blood sucking?

The project seems like it would take too long, from what I understand a buddy of mine did it in 2 weeks and of course over the next 6 months debugged it. I have a business I want to get going but timing wise it would have to be done in the next 3 months.....lets say maybe I will have to go back to growing......lol Thank you for your information as discouraging as it is......I thought that this would have been the place that something impossible like this would have been made possible .......thanks though!

So you are not full grown yet?

Sorry, I'd say this means he spent 2 weeks proving the basic concept and 6 months developing. Or, he should never write code again. No-one can spend 6 months debugging 2 weeks work.

That's a pity, you just said it would take 6 months to write :-)

If you have a really good idea, you can perhaps find an investor for it, a team of three would halve development time, for example.

Based on some of the folks we get here in the forums... I think that is totally possible. :-D

Heck, i've done it, starting out on new work in old code. Nothing like believing the documentation for an interface rather than reading the code that implements it to get you into trouble...

I can't believe you actually came on here, ask a question as vague as the one you did, were planning a business venture on it, had a few replies and then binned your business venture, I can't see what your point was? Your question was basically I need a house built, how long will it take?

So it took him 6-1/2 months to finish the app. No wonder you're amazed at what real programmers would charge - you suck at even the most trivial math problems. "Blood sucking"? I call that earning a living.
