Exactly. And it seems my plan worked...brilliantly! ;) No Islam, muslims, conservative politics or the usual crap for a few minutes.

I'm trying to establish demonstrate the fact that I am the smartest person on this message board. So, how many of you other regulars have PhD's, or is it just me (thereby making me the smartest here)? :-D
So what is your PHD in --- psychology? That would make you an oxymoron!

Me neither, but I can still remember lame little excerpts, making me smarter than you.

Ah, but the differnce isn't that I "can't" remember them ... its that I intentionally purged the crap from my brain after taking my final exams for English that year. I had much better use for that section of my brain than to fill it with garbage from English class ;P

As long as the specialist doesn't run into any situations outside his specialty, he would be better than an universalist. However, life doesn't tend to work that way ... and what is the percentage of people who have jobs in areas outside of the field they earned their degree in?
I am employed outside of the field I earned my degree in.

Which is my point. If you specialize in something, and then don't use that specialty, it is worthless in comparison to a universalist. If memory serves me, I think the statistics were something like 75% of people hold jobs outside of the field of their degree.

Yes it does.

I know a few PhD's and they are definately not all smart, one of them has 3.
Obviously I am smarter than a person with 3 PhD's. Apparently they were too dimwitted to see the redundancy of having 3 degrees. Duh. Besides, doctorates in Basket Weaving, Agricultural Sciences and Psychology don't count as PhD's. So far, this thread confirms my initial hypothesis.

No, it does not. What it means is that you paid a bunch of cash to a school that issued a document specifying that you did the work they required. It does NOT prove you are intelligent at all.

I swear I hear your voice as Vizzini (A Princess Bride) Vizzini: I can't compete with you physically, and you're no match for my brains. Westley: You're that smart? Vizzini: Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates? Westley: Yes. Vizzini: Morons.

Wikipedia says: Eystein Glumra also called Eystein Ivarsson (born 788 in Maer), Nord Trondelag, Norway) was a petty king of Norway, the son of Ivar Halfdan and the father of Ragnvald Eysteinsson. He was married to Ascrida Rognvaldsdatter c. 819. Almost all of my family are Cornish but one person married the many-times grand-daughter of a bastard son on one of the Norman kings of England, which gave the Nordic link.
