Wow![^] That was pretty fast. They haven't quite taken control yet, but in a matter of just two days, they were able to cut the trade deficit! You did good, Nancy!

That is to be expected. Now that the dems are back in power, all the economic news is suddenly good news. But a biased press? Never! fing assholes.

    Thank God for disproportional force.

Not really. I'm not as hate-driven as the left. The Democrats deserved to win because of Republican failings and to an extent I'm glad because Republicans need to clean house (ideologically speaking). I think the policies that Nancy Pelosi has laid out will definitely damage the economy (and she hasn't even announced the tax raise yet). I'm more comfortable with them having the congress than Stan, primarily because Republicans took back the Supreme Court. I'm fairly confident that judicial activism has been reigned in (thanks to Republicans) and any legislation that comes out of our government will ultimately originate once again from the people. I clearly disagree with leftist policies, but the public has spoken and will get whatever legislation they deserve. I'm comfortable with Democracy whether I'm on the winning team or not. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the left. The purposes of this thread is twofold: 1. To poke fun at all those people who said Bush crashed the economy (when it crashed before he took office). 2. As a taste of what mainstream media headlines will look like over the next two years. If you recall, in the late 90s we were inundated with positive economic news while today we are not, despite the fact that the economy today is far superior.

In reality they didn't win, rather the republicans lost. There is a difference.

Ummmmm...No, they won. They have a majority in both houses.

No one person can be responsible for the deficit, since the congress defines the budget. It's a function of economic success (contributing to government income) and controlled spending. The economy took a nosedive shortly before Clinton left office and that was greatly exacerbated by 9/11. Bush's tax initiative turned the economy around and reduced the deficit. Republicans as a whole were ultimately responsible for the deficit because they vastly expanded social programs when the money was needed elsewhere. That also caused the dollar to fall, which made my Dom about 30% more at Costco. It was very sad.

And now that you are no longer in the "majority" you are squealing like a stuck pig. It is shocking... really unexpected... no really, it is.

I'm pretty sure I have the right to squeal like a stuck pig - at least that is until Nancy takes it away from me.

Did you read the article? The author does not attribute the economic good news to the dems. Although Red Stateler did...so maybe what we're looking at here is a "biased Red Stateler", not biased media.

Did you read the headline? The point is that when dems are in power the media puts every possible positive spin on any important econommic news. When the republicans are in power it is precisely the opposite. It is simply one of the many ways the lieing, cheating, evil bastards stay in power.

That's a long reach, since the dems don't control either the house or the senate yet.
