btw, don't look at me as a disgruntled poster. I have never been victimized, harrassed or offered free offers for my email address. I just see it happening often so I wanted to see what everybodies opinion are.

Why do some people have to insert nasty replies to posts when they appear in the wrong forum. Especially when some people have a strange question and are unsure where to post. We should stand on our lab desks and protest this!!! ;P I can understand if the question/comment is stupid and is obviously in the wrong forum then someone should same something; but at least be polite. Can't we all just get along :)

You're right. Many of the replies are unnecessarily nasty. By the way, I've suggested several times that the forums here should be rearranged so it's more obvious where a question belongs. But the replies I got were, in general, nasty!

To get along more than a handful of people out of hundreds have to show some respect. Until more people at least try, then it ain't gonna happen.

Actually, that's was called a contrast and comparison to illustrate a point. And I think I've done a very damn good job showing respect for homos, etc. considering I don't agree with any of it. You've never seen me attack them, just express my views that I don't agree with it.

I think that if somebody posts their message in the wrong forum she/he won't get the reply they wanted. That is what they deserve for posting in the wrong forum. Other people could post him/her to tell them they are in the wrong stinking forum, but in a nice stinking way. :)

Well, it seems most people's opinion is that there is extra nastiness. The posters may or may not deserve it. I think that if you want to be nasty then just add a ':)' after the message. That will make even the worst of replies seem nice :suss:

Having your post not read is your own damn fault for putting it in the wrong forum. But we are really discussing the issue of whether it is OK to reply with a nasty message or not. We don't want to scare people away from CP. Do we?

I do. I mean, what's the point of people who can't or won't learn? Why waste time answering a question for someone too stupid or lazy to find the right forum for a question? (Note: i'm not talking about WebDev vs. ASP.NET mistakes, or C++ vs. ATL - i'm talking Suggestions vs. C++, or The Soapbox vs. VB.NET).
