    How can be tested - in VC++6 that a driver is installed or not? We know the driver name.

      How about starting with: EnumDeviceDrivers(aDrivers, sizeof(aDrivers), &cbNeeded) (SDK) and test if the driver is in the list? You could get additional infos with GetDeviceDriverBaseName(aDrivers[i], szBaseName,sizeof(szBaseName)) and GetDeviceDriverFileName(aDrivers[i], szDriverFileName,sizeof(szDriverFileName)) greetings, ralf.
