I read one study which found US workers waste at least one hour a day talking, surfing, etc. which would mean we are only working about 35 hours a week but are present for at least 40.

Don't you think the French also talk, surf, etc.? Which would mean their work week is really 30 hours. :)

I would actually love to have 30 minutes sleep after eating lunch. I would obviously expect to work an extra 30 minutes a day to make up for it. It helps you to feel more alert, and makes you much more productive. As it is now, I try and leave my lunch to as late in the day as possible, and time eating it around other less-alert tasks (such as reading the news, see leckey's thread above yours).

I agree. Why can't we have naptime like in pre-school? I am lucky though that I live close enough to where I work that if I want to nap during my lunch hour I can.

Douce France ! :-D But fortunately I work in Germany, which is a country where people still want to work and not to sleep at work. And you are consequently rewarded for your efforts. 35 hours are done in 3 days here, not 5. BUT I think that when I am settle down with children and house paid and I do not need to make money anymore, I'll go back to my country and find a job where I can start the week on monday and finish it on wednesday (given that I will not change my work habits) AND take a nap in the middle of my work.
