I really don't give a damn about all this spyware/virus stuff. Time was when they used to trash your hard drive, now they just take over your system and use it to commit crime. I know I've got one of those 'bots' because I've had sone of those dick enlargement emails from myself. Hell, I even quite like the idea of being part of some huge criminal conspiracy without actually having to do anything wrong. I can't help thinking that there's more to worry about than the internet being overtakien by a bunch of guys wanting to make everyone's wee wee twice it's current size. Disunity is strength

Maybe that's microsoft's best hope in getting us all to spend an extra 100 pouinds or so buybing the most secure operating system ever. Personally I think it's just hype. Why the f346346 woulkd I want a secure operating system? Secure WINDOWS would be kind of useful but I couldn't giVe A FT23 ABOUT my computer as long as nobody nicks it. I'm banking on letting everybody look at my bhard drive and conclkuding 'what a boring load nof ncr@p! Whatb the f378o am I doing herre?#' And yes Rob maybe it is just me and feel free to come yup with some kind of contrite little answer that convinces your fellow forumees that you are clever. But if someone coluld come up with as smart an algorithm to protect me and my family as they have to protect some geek's harfd drive then I'd be kjind of grateful to know what it is.

Didl you emjoy a few beveraegs on your F4LDK# picnic? ;P Would you also not mind, if some criminals used your barn to plan a heist, so long as they didn't mess up the place or steal your equipment?

As long as you have got it insured, don't want you to be out-of-pocket especially as you probably use it for vb.net software development - is that your way of saying that you don't care about your livelihood ?

Giles, I suspect you might change your mind when your PC gets highjacked and then sending without either your knowledge or permission those damned annoying spam e-mails that features a graphic for some penny stock and driveling text that anti-spam can not detect, and all those thousands of bounced spam right back into your in-box! Trust you don't keep your bank details or your ebay details on that insecure PC as this you may come to regret.

smart or not I doubt you would use such a thing.

Any computer falls into the category of Secure Operating System, just make sure you are never connected to any network and never use CD's, DVD's, Floppy's, Pen Drives and the like especially if they have been anywhere near to another computer. Giles, IMO, what crass stupidity your message was.

His profile says something about his dogs chasing deer. Perhaps a game warden might put his dogs out of their misery.

I very much doubt my dogs will ever kill much. Everything seems to either run down/up/faster a hole/tree/than them. Actually the two posts were meant to lead on to a complex multi layered intellectual discussion of a) Why we worry about things like PC security because we've got nothing else to do b) Penis enlargement c) Why we have so many vague laws that we don't have to bother obeying However I was sauced and getting sauceder so I wandered off and listened to some loud music for a while before drifting into a coma instead. I'm up for it now though if anyone's interested?
