Fingers crossed, good luck Grandma!

Oh guys, it's crunch time. My grandmother is being operated on tomorrow to try and remove a slow growing malignant tumour from one of her kidneys. Touchwood it should all be a fairly routine operation and after a couple of days in hospital to check her recovery, she should be back staying with us by the end of the week until she is able to go home again. Having said that, I lost my grandmother on my fathers side to exactly the same problem back in '93 - the only difference was that that was malicious. :(( Hows that saying go... thank god for small mercies? And how long did she have to wait? Well, if we had to pay for it ala US of A style - insurance likely wouldn't cover her at 85 and given the family history - she would wait indefinately, as it is, with the good old NHS, from discovery to (hopefully) removal it has been eight weeks. Fingers crossed. I'm thinking of you Grandma. :rose: Now it's time to raid the toffee tin before she gets back! Just had a rant in the lounge about nothing much, just a normal bad day, then read your message and it puts things in perspective. None of it really matters when you compare it to things like you are going through. Best Wishes and Good Luck to you and your Grandma :rose: :rose: :rose: ali p

The insurance covered everything, despite his earlier bouts with cancer and high-risk family history. The medical staff even made house calls in his finals weeks to care for him so my mom would be spared the pain of doing it herself.

Well this morning she came out of theatre, and as of 2 pm this afternoon she was back on a general ward. She has a drip 'cause she can't eat of drink for the next few days, and she was totally nackered. She also had her ovaries removed as a safeguard because one of her sisters had problems a few years back.
