You should tell King Abdullah that. See how long it takes before he laughs you out of his vast palatial estate of which you obviously own a fraction. Of course, Saudi Arabia is in the United Nations too, so that means what Saudi Arabia has, we have. But I wonder what would happen to Middle Easter countries if we decided to stop buying oil. You haven't been able to invest your profits into any meaningful industry... Interestingly, this is the stated goal of the Arab League:

"Serve the common good of all Arab countries, ensure better conditions for all
Arab countries, guarantee the future of all Arab countries and fulfill the hopes and
expectations of all Arab countries. "

Yeah...They're doing a GREAT job!

America probably could if we really had to. We've got decent reserves of our own. Also, with a proper motivation, we could greatly decrease the amount of oil we use.

Didn't Clinton once say he was committed to drastically reducing the US's dependence on oil within ten years or something?

King Abdullah told a summit of Arab leaders ``In beloved Iraq, blood flows between brothers in the shadow of illegitimate foreign occupation and hateful sectarianism, threatening a civil war'' I forget who said (I paraphrase) 'watch your enemies but watch your friends more closely', but that would seem to be the case here.

Saudis are helping the sunni insurgents in fear of a shia domination on Iraq, as they are fighting Hezbollah and Hamas undercover. That's why I believe this speech is only political, to promote Saudi Arabia in the eyes of the opponents of the US invasion, which is not really popular worldwide, and especially in muslim countries.

But your enemy called America an "illegitimate" foreign occupier. That means that you think we're legitimately in Iraq.

And Hitler was the greatest statesman of the 20th century, still wouldnt be my friend though.

Truth is the subjection of reality to an individuals perception

                      This statement was never false.
