The genius behind mathematica believes the secret of the Universe is cellular automata. I wonder if he is correct. Male/female attraction and love is nothing more than a chemical/hormonal reaction refined by millions of years of evolution. Religious beliefs are probably a coping mechanisms that evolved to protect the human mind from things it could not understand. Wolfram believes that he can model nature and physics with his cellular automata programs. Some Computer Scientists believe that AI will never be human like. But if Wolfram is correct, then all we are is just a very complex computer that evolved from carbon to survive and reproduce like a pathetic virus. What is your view on this? I personally believe computers will become so advanced that they will actually have the processing power to act human.

Well, obviously you could eventually program them to 'act human'. But what would be the point? We already have plenty of humans doing that. :) "There's a slew of slip 'twixt cup and lip"

Yeah, I'd be far more enlightened to see Vulcans and other exotic type lifeforms. May be they could make them good for hunting as well. Regardz Colin J Davies

Well, automata theory states that a turin machine can emulate any form of computer (and you can construct a turing machine out of cellular automata) The big question is whether the human brain is just a computer, or if there's something else going on... One argument that I like is that the eyes don't create the things you see, they just capture an image for you to interpret. Your lungs don't create the oxygen, they just capture it from the air, your ears just capture waves to make the sounds you hear, so who's to say that the brain actually creates your thoughts, rather than capturing them in a raw form from somewhere else. -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

Unplugging a computer may be oneday considered an act of murder. Regardz Colin J Davies
