Anyone got any hangover cures for Brian ?

I think we should pool our resources and help with his hangover. :) Years ago someone suggested Orange juice and lemonade as a hangover cure to me. Apparently, you loose Vitamin C when you drink alcohol, and your blood sugar level drops - so Orange Juice and Lemonade should sort both of those out. Doesn't work though! :( Anyone else got any ideas ? :-D I might be prepared to test them for you .... in the interests of science obviously :-D Ali
There don't seem to be any cures... I think I'll just go to the pub.. being finished college for the year has made me into an alcoholic.... I'll have to do something about it!! ;-)

Actually, I think drinking orange juice like that would spike your blood sugar, but it would return low again soon after. I'm no doctor, but I know that drinking a lot of water before you go to bed is a good thing. Alcohol is a diuretic (makes you piss a lot) and quite frequently a hangover for me is a pounding headache from dehydration. I'm sure if you just drench your body - down a ton of water, or gatorade and get your blood sugar back up in a reasonable way like by eating a regular meal - things might work out. But I could just be making this shit up... J I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

Further to that last one, alcohol is also slightly addictive, and part of the hangover is "coming down". I've heard (and it makes sense) that having another drink can ease the pain. Don't make it into another party - just a little champagne in your orange juice... or vodka on your cheerios... J I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

Jamie Hale wrote: I know that drinking a lot of water before you go to bed is a good thing. That's what I do, and I've never had any trace of a hangover. Alcohol dehydrates you and that's what messes you up the next morning. Drink as much water as you can stand before going to bed - for me that's usually 1.5 to 2 tall glasses. --Mike-- Just released - RightClick-Encrypt - Adds fast & easy file encryption to Explorer Like the Google toolbar? Well, as an appreciator of fine alcohol on my cereal, I'd have to say, "it depends". :) I recommend a bit of Boddingtons to compliment a bowl of unsugared whole wheat or oat cereal (Shreddies, Cheerios). Kilkenny, Bass, Creemore, or any other full-bodied beer will do. Guiness or other stouts need a much heavier gritty cereal like Grape Nuts or All Bran. If fruity sugary cereals are your favourites, I'd recommend a cold Red Stripe or Corona (Froot Loops, or anything else with "froot" on the ingredients list). Alternatives would include rice beers like Saporo, and classic pilsners like Steam Whistle. Chocolatey cereals are the tough ones. You'll need to find a good liquor store and track down some of the weird and wonderful Bavarian desert beers, the names of which escape me at the moment. Never, and I mean never attempt to consume a watery American beer or even a non-American Lite beer with your cereal. This will surely offend the gods, and as the boys of Monty Python once said, "open the sluices at both ends". J I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

Jamie Hale wrote: I'm no doctor, but I know that drinking a lot of water before you go to bed is a good thing This is because drinking alcohol dehydrates your body... hence it causes hang-overs.. they say if you drink a pint of water for every two pints you drank you'll be fine... So we both agree... :-)
