A teacher I am not. Today I was supposed to show two people how to use Crystal Reports to tie into a SQL DB. Okay, no big deal. I crank up the Crystal Reports designer on my machine and boom we have an error. So, for the meeting I go to another machine that has 8.5 installed on it. Guess what, I have never used the designer in 8.5 before. I've mainly used 8 with some 7. It isn't that different, but because of the differences and the fact they became slightly impatient made this go from bad to worse. My brain just gave out on me. Uh was about the most intelligent thing I was saying. :( I've used Crystal Reports a lot, but never 8.5 and I guess I shouldn't be a teacher because my brain loves to crap out in these situations. I rescheduled in a couple of hours so I can play with 8.5's designer, and I hope I don't screw this one up. Anyone else have any brain fart situations? At one point in one of the talks, I foolishly throught I could get a really simple demo going and it failed, fialed, failed.....then it failed one last time for good measure. I tried to make light of the situation by cracking a joke, but I had a tough crowd that was obviously not amused. In another talk, the only thing I could say was, "It worked just as you guys were walking in the door....geez man!" - "geez, man" :omg: - I said that to a room full of developers - niiiice! :| I came away from there with a much clearer understanding of what it means to practice, practice, and practice some more, get the demos to work each and every time, have a "plan B" ready, and to cool it with the over-confidence thing.
