Windows XP hates Visual Interdev 6.0 and SQL Server 2000?

I read in a book on ASP that it's good to develop your asp web using IIS and SQL Server but: -I can't install SQL server on Windows XP -When I create a project with Interdev running on Windows XP platform, Visual Interdev can,t connect with Web Server(I have already install IIS and test it). Please Help Me:(( :((

I hate Interdev as well. What a pile of crap. I write ASPs in VC++, it gives me some syntax highlighting without being intrusive to the point of being unuseable. I have two XP machines running SQL Server 2000 with no problems. I've also used VID on the same platform with no problems (other than what it comes with). As suggested check your server extentions. Which version of SQL Server are you trying to install?
