Hello can anybody tell me how to make the compilation process faster? I have heard that it is possible to skip the processes of creating the assembly file and we can directly get the exe file for the windows. Can someone tell me how to do this??? Regards

How slow is it? I admit I haven't work on massive projects, but 1/2 million lines spread over a number of projects will compile into an application in a reasonable amount of time (under a minute). One way to speed its up is with more memory and more cpu. 2gig of RAM is almost a must on a development machine and hardly breaks the bank.

There is no such thing as "skipping the assembly file". An .EXE or .DLL file IS an assembly! You cannot skip any part of the compile process.

AFAIK ngen.exe tries to reduce the run-time execution time by adding a step to the building process. :)

Thought he might be referring to run time compilation of MSIL - hence ngen.
