Hello, i wanted a personal review from anyone who has used Vista (professional or home). I am planning for a new notebook that comes preloaded with Vista. So any remarks on performance and other hardware/software constraints? Or maybe any problems that I need to be aware of? Thanks in advance.

Just make sure that you get a reasonable amount of memory, I use Ultimate and would say that you really want 2Gb Ram if possible and preferably a duel core processor.

Thanks a lot. I have heard and read that a considerable number of third party software cannot be installed on Vista due to some compatibility issues. Do you know anything about that?

I have Vista running on a single processor, 2Gig laptop. For laptops you should find that power management is much better than before....but you also have to have a BIOS upgrade to take advantage of the interfacing with Vista. I've found most applications I want to install running without a problem. Of course, you probably know about VS2005 already so be prepared to do lots of downloading before running it on Vista. The only issue I found was with one game that directly used the directx dll's instead of the API dll's. That application was the only one that has failed for me.
