Stupid Wonders of the World
-
Voters chose the Great Wall of China; India's Taj Mahal; the centuries-old pink
ruins of Petra in Jordan; the Colosseum in Rome; the statue of Christ overlooking Rio
de Janeiro; the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru; and the ancient Mayan city of
Chichen Itza in Mexico.Apparently a 105-foot, 100-year-old concrete statue is a greater wonder than the 455-foot, 4,500-year-old Great Pyramid of Giza. How absolutely absurd.

Yes, because that statue is of God's Son who died for the salvation of mankind. The pyramids in Egypt were made because of a belief in false gods who are actually demons, and the people who made them are burning in hell right now.

The Statue of Liberty is a more wondrous construction than Christ the Redeemer, but that doesn't mean I'm defending the French.

Contrary to your convoluted belief, Christ the Redeemer was not voted on because of its Christian symbolism (after all, St. Peter's Basilica is a far more worthy choice). It was voted on by Brazilians who flooded the voting system so that they could lay claim to one of the world's wonders. Too bad that, by doing so, they effectively discredited the list.

The accuracy and incitefullness of your posts is remarkably improved of late. ;)
Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

I'm sure you would find any one of Alcoa's aluminum factories to be a more wondrous construction than Christ the Redeemer.

Yeah, I know: moral relativism... The typical answer of you atheist/pagan heathens without moral principles! I don't do nuances, leftie!

San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge is a more wondrous contruction than Christ the Redeemer, but I'm not advocating moral relativism.

Yes i am sure, because Christ the Redeemer is just a dead corpse laying somewhere in the middle east.

Ahh. You were doing so well and now you've blown it.:sigh: Read a bit further in your Bible and you'll come accross something called the resurection. Only the greatest moment in history so far. Not sure how you managed to miss it actaully. If it's a little tricky to understand you could get an excellent relatively modern book about it called "Who moved the stone?" by C.S. Lewis.

Quite possibly. I was merely congratualting Kyle on an excellent post. I have no more time for the new list than you do.:)

Gandalf was also resurrected after the balrog killed him, but that was in another fairy tale.
The divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity. - John Adams
I think the word you're looking for is faery. That particular story which conatains no fairies was written by someone who understood the truth of the resurrection. He specifically avoided allegory and that is one reason why he did not write that Gandalf was resurrected, merely that he was sent back, which you have conveniently interpreted.
Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

Actually, no. Plan A was to include the pyramids on the list to be voted on. The pyramid fans loudly protested at the indignity of being forced to compete in such a way. Thus they switched to plan B. The pyramids were withdrawn from the list and they were granted automatic status as an honorary wonder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Seven_Wonders_of_the_World[^]
