Gandalf was also resurrected after the balrog killed him, but that was in another fairy tale.

I think the word you're looking for is faery. That particular story which conatains no fairies was written by someone who understood the truth of the resurrection. He specifically avoided allegory and that is one reason why he did not write that Gandalf was resurrected, merely that he was sent back, which you have conveniently interpreted.

Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

Voters chose the Great Wall of China; India's Taj Mahal; the centuries-old pink
ruins of Petra in Jordan; the Colosseum in Rome; the statue of Christ overlooking Rio
de Janeiro; the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru; and the ancient Mayan city of
      Chichen Itza in Mexico.

Apparently a 105-foot, 100-year-old concrete statue is a greater wonder than the 455-foot, 4,500-year-old Great Pyramid of Giza. How absolutely absurd.

Actually, no. Plan A was to include the pyramids on the list to be voted on. The pyramid fans loudly protested at the indignity of being forced to compete in such a way. Thus they switched to plan B. The pyramids were withdrawn from the list and they were granted automatic status as an honorary wonder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Seven_Wonders_of_the_World[^]

No? How do you figure. Christ the Redeemer is a wonder. The Great Pyramid of Giza is not. Who cares about their methodology? And why would a poured concrete statue or be a greater wonder than something like the Eiffel Tower. It's just plain old stupid. Even that orange peel doohicky you have in Australia is more impressive.

Yes i am sure, because Christ the Redeemer is just a dead corpse laying somewhere in the middle east.

Meaningless - yes - unless it is a kind-of "sleight of hand" marketing campaign to boost travellers and sightseers to these places.

 Nice! At least that thing resembles the real thing. I actually stopped by to see the Prairie Dog (driving across Kansas is incredibly boring) and was a little let down by what amounted to little more than a pile of brown concrete with eyes. Good for a laugh, though. :)
