Chances are very low as VC MFC is an unmanaged code. It is better you go throught the documentations which would let you know how and where you need to change to make the application compatible with VS 8.0 (2005). If I'm not mistaken I have even heard of some third party tools which help you out with this kind of portability issues. please google it out as I'm novice in that field

If I convert an app from vc6.0(mfc) to vs2005, could it run under vista?

What compiler you use to compile your app has nothing at all to do with whether it will run under Vista. It completely depends on how you wrote your app.

Hmm.. programming isnt an easy ride.. Are you completely new to programming? Also, if you're targeting a specific language, maybe the VC++ or C# forums (for example) would be more useful... --PerspX

In your case, pay somebody else to do it.

All depends on the nature of the application. The first thing to do is to get it running successfully in VC++ 2005 on Windows XP. Then you'll just have to try it on Vista and see what issues arise. The main potential hazard is security changes.

All depends on the nature of the application. The first thing to do is to get it running successfully in VC++ 2005 on Windows XP. Then you'll just have to try it on Vista and see what issues arise. The main potential hazard is security changes.

Thank you very much for your kindness. Just same as what I have thought.
