“Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn’t the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit … paranoid? You know what I mean? It’s nature. How do you make nature against the fucking law? It grows everywhere. Serves a thousand different functions, all of them positive. To make marijuana against the law is like saying God made a mistake. You know what I mean? It’s like God, on the seventh day, looking down on his creation: ‘There it is, my creation, perfect and holy in all ways. Now, I can rest …’ Oh my me! I left fucking pot everywhere. I never should have smoked that joint on the third day. Shit. That was the day I created possums. If I leave pot everywhere, that’s going to give humans the impression they’re supposed to use it. Now I have to create Republicans!” Bill Hicks - Bill Hicks: Agent of Evolution?[^]

Go out and find yourself a big rock. Beat yourself over the head with it. Repeat if needed. Rocks are part of the nature. Don't try to fight nature. Just because something exists naturally, doesn't mean that any way that you can use it is natural or good.

As someone so correctly stated here not long ago, the Ebola virus is also natural, but both it, and beating oneself over the head with a natural rock, have proven to be life threatening.

The same way paedophillia, which is common in nature, ir ilegal in our socety. Not to lention infanticide etc. The problem is the view that 'nature is perfect' 'mankinbd is an abomination'. This is a common view among Greens. The truth is of course that we are part of nature. We are monkeys with brains, but, we manage to rise above our baser intincts, making their expression illegal, for the sake of society, because, without society, we can not reaise our dreams and our potential. Note none of this has anything to do with god.

Truth is the subjection of reality to an individuals perception

I don' think Hicks meant that anything natural should be legal and accepted and good. I certainly don't hold that. This is a cynical but humorous comment on the illegality of weed. Miss it at your own .. I dunno.

That's not true actually. If it grew everywhere then the male pollen would be corrupting the usable plants with seed. Nope, can't be having it run rampant. Needs to be controlled. Its closest living relative is the Hops plant.

                                    This statement was never false.
