ok first of all im only 16, and i have been using this site for over a year. I am not that good at spelling, does that affect my proggraming skills...i think not. I have total respect for this site, it has helped me out alot. I posted the links so that people can see my work and what i can do, and so i meet new proggramers like me. And computering is something u study.

A check through history on CP would reveal that we're not picking on you specifically; we tend to frown upon people advertising competing forums here. As for your English? We curmudgeonly old bastards prefer to see something that bears more than a mere passing resemblance to English. :)

Heh, I wasn't objecting to being called old - it takes talent to live this long! I'll get flamed by others for this but I don't have a problem with VB6 - it's a great language for whipping up quick and dirty prototypes or as a COM test container. On the other hand, I don't think of it as a 'long term' language. By that I mean that I wouldn't like releasing a product based on VB6 - I'd use it as the lever to get started and, once comfortable that it's going where the client wants it to go, I'd recode from the ground up in c++ (and MFC). If that last comment doesn't mark me as old then nothing will!!!

haha, ok well yes you are correct about VB6 however since i am only young haha i will use it to get familer with programming. Then i may move onto C++ since i am familier with the layout of the compiler i use ands used it last year till i got stuck!!! when it came to the advance bits. VB6 is really easy to use i think, well so far, i hope to be a programmer once i finish University (although i havent even started uni yet haha) well that is my dream. What job do u have? if you don't mind me askin!!

                            1. It would be helpful if you at least learned to spell programing , to start with. 2. If you are going to set up amd maintain a web site similar to this one, good spelling is essential to put forward a good face. 3. Computering is not a word in the English language, or any other that I know of. 4. Use of text speak like 'u' is generally frowned upon here. It is seen as a sign of laziness.

You know, some of us managed to make it all the way through our teens without resorting to age-based excuses for our spelling mistakes. If you have some sort of learning disability, are just learning English, or went to one of those hippy "phonetic spelling method" schools, then just admit it - but don't cast every young 'Net user as lazy or sloppy just because you feel comfortable with that appearance.

---- Do you see what i see? Why do we live like this? Is it because it's true... ...That ignorance is bliss?

Yes, it is and it is big time flame fuel if I may add...

And that was before there were any frickin' spell checkers that couldn't spell...
