I want to know if its against the law if you take a piece of software under the GPL license and use its Images, icons in your own software? Under my understanding, this is legal, but do I have to include these images in a folder with the software so they can be taken? Thanks. http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html -- modified at 14:04 Monday 20th August, 2007

I am not a lawyer, but my interpretation is that you have to include everything from the GPL'ed software, not just the images. If you modify the images then you have to provide the modified images also.

you could always ask the copyright holder for an alternative license.
