Fair enough. If you don't swallow them all ( like the 'dynamite in the basement theory' ), then that's something. I would guess that you belong to a church where your opinions on this matter are widely held ? I belonged to a church like that (briefly). It was a fascinating place, I think some social scientists or anthropologists should join places like that and report on their findings.

Thermite bombs in the basement are actually pretty likely compared with may of the theories. I doubt my views are shared by many in my church. I certainly haven't discussed 9/11 with them and it has never come up. My church is very non political compared to what I guess many north American churches are like. My opinions have been formed by reading and web research. I've had a pretty good look at the Kean/Hamilton/Zelikow report and read one of David Ray Griffin's book, watched upward of 50 hours of direct footage and related video. I also predicted the use of commercial airliners as suicide weapons during the whole missile shield debate months before 9/11. I've seen the photos of the 'brains' at the pentagon preparing for a plane crash attack, seen the schedule of military and particularly airforce exercises which combined together on 9/11/2001 to denude almost the entire continental US of its usual air defence, heard the doctored recordings, genuine recordings, faked recoding and censored recordings of phone calls made on the day, seen the treatment of the relatives of the victims, watched the squirming and story changing of key figures from Dick Cheyney to the Pensylvania Corroner, looked at flight paths, read the Operation Northwoods documents, studied the 3 official timelines and the their deviations form the real time line, listened to the Popular Mechanics guys and then watched them being taken apart by a couple of teenagers. I am far from considering myself an expert but wrong is wrong, lies are lies, jet fuel doesn't melt structural steel and 40+ storey tower blocks don't collapse at free fall speed from fire and minor damage even if they've already been reported as having collapsed by the BBC and CNN script readers. You can call me a conspiracy theorist but just remember that anyone who belives that Tim Osman (AKA OBL) punched a single 18" hole in the Pentagon with a Boeing 757 is one as well. They've seen no evidence. It's fantastically unlikely to have occured but they belive it because people who they already know are professional liars told them that's what happened.

Out of curiosity... since that did not happen - what does your father have to say?
Oh, quite simply, his church life consists largely of playing 'spot the antiChrist'. By the time it's evident it can't be Saddam, we've moved on to someone else, and pretty much forgotten all the times he was wrong, because this time, he's OBVIOUSLY right. Given that the bible doesn't support the idea of the antiChrist as he is trying to find it, he's obviously in trouble. But, even if I'm wrong in my view there, his approach plainly makes a laughing stock of his beliefs.

OK..... It's plain that anything I believe about these events is based on weighing up different media reports. I was not there. Nevertheless, the need of some people to find conspiracy has as it's most fatal flaw, the fact that I've yet to hear a motive that is plausible for the US government to attack it's own members, on it's own soil. The stuff about taking away civil rights, to prepare for the antiChrist, or for other reasons, is just crap, IMO.

Its the 11th of Sept here at the moment and I thought it would be interesting to see where everyone was on this day 6 years ago when you heard about the attacks in the US I was here[^] on a surfing trip with a mate, its was late at night and we we're sitting up waiting for some other friends to drive up from Sydney. We'd both fallen asleap while watching the telly when someone called to tell us what was happening. We saw the second aircraft crash into the building and stayed up most of the night watching the reports. It was very sureal to wake up too especially considering we were very very stoned and worn out from a long day of driving / surfing -- modified at 3:20 Tuesday 11th September, 2007 I really cant spell to save my life

In this case we will probably never know for sure. At the WTC, controlled demolition, without a doubt. That's what the experts have concluded and I agree. At the Pentagon, a plane but almost certainly not the 757 that was claimed. Much more likely a painted up military drone. Either way the automated air defences were deliberately stood down on Dick C's orders. That seems to be clear. In Pensylvania, an unauthorised (at the highest level) shootdown seems most likely. A pilot doing his job despite contrary or non existent order. It's all horrible to contemplate and much worse when you realise that senior administration figures knew it was coming and at the very least helped it along while protecting themselves and their allies. Check out George W's security having anti-aircraft missiles installed on the roof of his hotel in Florida for his visit there. Completely outside SOPs and from what I gather it's never happened before or since. The only good thing that can come out it all is for the American people to wake up and smell the reality.:rose:

So it's your opinion that a "smallish" group within the current US administration (POTUS, VPOTUS and the entire DOD) conspired to kill thousands of innocent civilians? 1. Why? 2. How did they manage to pull it off, considering how inept they've proven to be in ALL other areas?

There was a show on The History Channel the other day performing a rational comparison between the conspiracy theorists who made that online conspiracy theory film (who all seemed to be early 20-somethings) and experts in various fields including building demolition experts. None of the experts (i.e. professionals with advanced degrees who have worked their whole lives in their respective fields) concluded that it was a controlled demolition or corroborated any of the conspiracy theories. That begs the question...To which "experts" do you refer?

A misinterpretation of the book of Daniel is tied to a literal interpretation of a chapter in Revelations, which is a book of obvious word pictures ( unless heaven is being turned into a stone statue ). This interpretaton of Revelations has it's origins in the reformation, Protestants claimed that this book points the finger at the Catholic Church, the Catholic Church responded with two alternative views, one of which became the predominant one in ( ironically ) protestant churches. So, the idea is that some super being will take over the world, killing anyone who won't renounce Christ ( mysteriously, this occurs AFTER all Christians have been taken by Christ to spend either 3 1/2 or 7 years in the sky with Him, prior to His earthly return ). So, the excitement is that you will suffer, but the Christians will be OK. And, as I said, I regard the interpretation of scripture that leads to this view to be wrong, in any case. It sure is fun to preach, I would imagine, better than most sci fi movies, at a minimum.

I was working from home and my wife gave me a call to turn on the television, which I did just in time to see the second plane hit.

Well, again, the idea is that when Jesus returns, Christians move on to a better life ( this part is Biblical, obviously ), so the antiChrist is exciting as he's regarded as a sign of Jesus' return. The idea is also to convince people of coming doom in order to get them to come to church, my dad always talked about it in that context - any day now, your chance will be gone, and when you live under the one world government of the antiChrist, you'll keep thinking back to the day that I told you how to escape the coming disaster.

Ahhh.... I'm thinking it would be better for Hollywood if the point was to fight the anti-Christ and save the heathens rather than simply use him as a sign to convince folks to jump on the bandwagon. ;P
That WOULD make a better movie, but probably be harder work :P There is at least one series of books that sell well out of Christian book stores that are meant to be a dramatisation of Armageddon and the rise of the AntiChrist.
