A thought just occured to me. If these Palestinians terrorists are so free and willing to give up their lives for "the cause", claiming that this world holds nothing compared to the glory a martyr receives in heaven, what's the point of fighting for anything in this world? Think about it. If this world, in their view, is so transient and temporary, or whatever, why the big fuss over having their own state? What's the big deal? It would be like killing someone for stepping on an old pair of shoes you were going to throw away anyway. If the best thing they have to look forward to is paradise, what do they care if Palestine is occupied by Israelis? What do they care about this world at all? Are they trying to achieve a future for their children? Ha! They are quicker to send their own children to blow themselves up! So what's the point? The truth is that the leaders behind it all don't even believe in the ideals they send their followers to die for. They simply want more power, and they're selling out their own people to achieve it. Selling them out to death and destruction. Sending them to go blow themselves up for "the cause", which is obviously not what it appears to be. Of course logic fails in the face of fanaticism. And these poor sheep are sent to the slaughter, throwing their lives away in a murderous act of hatred, all for nothing. So some leader who will out-live them can achieve his own ends through their brain-washed self-sacrifice. Too harsh for you? It's no worse than the attack on a public bus yesterday that left 6 human beings dead, including an infant. Can you hear them praising their god for another victory? An infant! And we, the international community, sit by watching it happen, with even less concern than we have for who wins the World Cup. You don't see anyone rioting in the streets over the terrorist attacks that are going on in the middle east. Why not throw away a dime? I throw away ten pennies all the time.
A man can die as a wimp, or die as a hero. And they have the choice. and "brain-washed"? if it would be that easy....

That's a pretty shaky version of heroism. I prefer heroes like Jesus Christ who died trying to save his enemies. Perhaps some might call that wimpy but it takes a lot more strength of heart. Try it some time. If you don't think these people are brainwashed than that makes it even scarier. To do such things of your own free will and in a "sound mind" is the lowest form of evil that can be imagined. It's easier to accept the notion if you dismiss them as brain washed. God help us all if they're not. Why not throw away a dime? I throw away ten pennies all the time.

Aha, but try this: A big fence, wherever it is needed. Or rather, two big fences, spaced, say, 5 m apart. In between... a MINEFIELD.

I don't adore their way, but looking at the facts I can't blame them either. Don't underestimate the power it takes to conciously kill yourself. Knowingly. I know you are religous and maybe now think you can look death into the face, However: I've seen many people, christians that would rather break their bones than not attending their daily mass, in a state where I in my (relative) youth would say "rather dead than this". But everytime death came close they were fighting like hell - fighting to keep their pisspotty shitty excusion for a lifelight. All the time I met only one person I'd consider _stubborn enough to accept our all fate when he met his maker. How much more thriving force you need to do this not after having lived a fulfilled life - but "just for the cause"? "Brain washing" is an easy explanation - easy for us, easy to make us feel good. But remember that this "brain-washing" is not like a CIA agent that applies everything he learnt at Scientology, but it's their daily life. And some people just can't stand it anymore. The US americans call them "patriots".

Yes, but this is been going on for so long that if we were take notice everytime a large event happened in that area, we would not get on with our own lives. I have met many Palestinains and Israelis due to a stationing I had, and not one was able to discuss the situation rationally without rasism ,religious tolerance and lacking bigotry. Both sides appear reared to hate the other and it seems to only be worsening. If the International community really wants to solve the situation the remedy may appear worse then the current situation. Regardz Colin J Davies

I can't blame them because: I didn't grow up in a place where you are always at the stake of Israelis that treat you like crap. I know they should not do that, but what's the point in stopping just obe side? The whole setting down there is fucked up, you need to stop both sides. I once thought both sides had a point, now they both lost credibility. But still, I don't live in their skin, I can't sit here and tag them with blame points.

It's because they know they'd never get within 100 ft of a military installation and they want to kill *somebody*, the more the better it seems. More glory as a martyr. peterchen wrote: But still, I don't live in their skin, I can't sit here and tag them with blame points. Though you're not in their skin, it doesn't mean it's not wrong to kill people. If you thought with that logic you might as well empty every prison in the world since you don't really know what drove these people to their crimes. Empathy is not a prerequisite for justice. peterchen wrote: A man can die as a wimp, or die as a hero. And they have the choice. What difference it makes if anyone dies as a wimp or die as a hero? Whatever the living think, say or do won't make any difference to a dead man. note: It's not to condone anything. It's about some stupid social attitudes and the idiots who die on the basis of such.
