I have a beta version running on an old P1 for 2 months and have never had to reboot or had a crash etc. Although it is a superior OS in many ways, its main problem will be in the Marketing. Its unlikely that they will be able to attract enough financial capital to really launch it properly. What I really I enjoy about it is how you can do priority tasking. And also how all the Office data types import effortlessly to it. Regardz Colin J Davies

So, you admit that NZ places no barriers on importing software, and in fact imports software from MS and Oracle, two very large software companies, both producing heavily pirated software. And yet does *not* have rampant piracy occurring? I find that hard to believe. Perhaps it is a government-funded operation, carefully hidden from MS's spies. Or perhaps (*shudder*) MS operatives have been corrupted by the exotic local females, and have now become complacent. I grow cold thinking of the harm this could cause. :~ --------

Ok Roger this is the core of the issue, Any females of the non avian or reptile variety are free of any export restrictions from here. I'm American, and I'm against tariffs. Why? They're just another tax. They raise prices. I think American businesses of all types should be supported because they produce better products, or at lower prices, not simply because they are American. I really don't see how tariffs will have much of any effect on piracy. If piracy abroad is *really* costing software companies so much money, then why are they exporting their software at all? Even if you win the rat race, you're still a rat.

My issue with the US and tariffs is simple, "stop trying to convert feeble govts like mine to do something that they themselves won't do." Yes that would allow Capitalism to take care of your Economy. At the moment the US is in danger of supporting industries that will never be Internationally competitive. For Example the steel industry tariffs could mean that all US products will increase in price due to the protectionism. An economy really is best either open or closed but not in a state inbetween.
