NASA Satellite Discovers Massive Vegetation Die Off

"We were amazed at the continental scale that this die off occupied", said Dr. John Jorgenson of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.[^] Its shocking how fast things are changing.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference
Maybe because it's autumn and thats when most of the plants die. :|

I wonder how many people will miss this part and just 5 or 1 vote depending on their AGW slant?
My Blog A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Hehe yep, filed under the humor column. Pretty good satire though.

Ahh, but it is so representative on the situation. I got a kick out of it. "Yeah, he would say that, being in the pocket of 'big oil'."

The definition of good satire :) Sarcasm AND a reflection of reality. I agree by the way. While I think climate change is an issue we should be concerned about, the shrieking on both sides bores me.

Me too. But the alarmist side is by far the most popular with overwhelming media attention and bias, so I have a particular appreciation for jabs poked in it's direction.

I'm just waiting for some lazy journalist to pick this one up and run with it :)

Yep; building a straw-man to make fun of (as a number of folk around here do) isn't satire.

For myself, I've noticed shrieking coming from only one direction. And non-stop (and, oddly enough, it sounds just like the "New Ice Age" shrieking I heard when I was a kid). Hmmm, I wonder if one of my ears is going bad?

LOL. It's called Autumn and Winter! What a bunch of N00Bs!
Silence is the voice of complicity. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. -- monty python Might I suggest that the universe was always the size of the cosmos. It is just that at one point the cosmos was the size of a marble. -- Colin Angus Mackay

You're probably used to your own voice by now, and your echoes probably come back a little softer than when they left you.

Thank you for those words of wisdom (ya' see, unlike the majority of folk around here, I can learn even from someone like *you*). I'll just have to speak louder, won't I?

That's completely up to you. I'm sure you can learn from *me* if you allow it.

Don't think that will be necessary. My point was when you only hear shrieking from one direction, it's usually because your on the far end of the other side.

Come now, you don't actually have a point. What you have is a burr under your saddle. And, until you get rid of that burr, you're going to keep acting like you're acting. And, amusingly enough, you put the burr there yourself. ======== Moreover, there aren't two sides on global warming: there are the irresponsible and irrational hysteriacs (which is not a side) and then there is everyone else, whether amused at the so-shallow and so-obvious ginning-up of hysteria (which is also not a side) or whether just wishing everyone else would just shut up (which is also not a side). If one simply *must* see global warming in terms of "sides," the two opposing sides are rationality and irrationality.
