Yeah, now all the waitresses aren't thinking about sex so they can get their work done now.:->

A qualification don't mean shit. You have security when they are dependent on you or you are in a contract. Some employers are nice and will keep you around even though you cost them money and there is no work for you, others will fire you just because.

Yeah you do and I know what you want to say and I have to pay for that myself.

Yeah, you've made a huge contribution to the world. And now you're just a drug addled jerk who's rapidly becoming unemployable.

Bullshit. I was considered a jerk ever since I made my first post in the soapbox a long time ago.

No, it's the employer's fault. They don't hire on the basis of competency.

I won't fault you for going to school. Personally, I'd have aimed a little higher to start but I can understand if your parents want to keep you closer to home for a while at your age.

I agree generally, but since the world is interconnected, one would expect in this instance for it to be true. IF not, as stated, these effects are eother geographically, or in some other way specific. Here, the effect is specific to large cities. Therefore it is not truly global in nature.

If a trend is a true average, then that trend ought to be visible across ANY subset of that data.
If anyone can think of a more succinct way of displaying complete and utter ignorance of all things statistical, I would like to hear it. For now, this statement tops my list.

That's not true, especially in a local sense. And by local I mean local in relation to a function. You can find local trends in a stochastic process that when you rescale the function the trend completely disappears. Similarly, scaling down a function can cause trends to vanish. Thus you can't expect any finite subset of a sample to display the same trend as the population. Duh.

You're cherry-picking the data here, man. That's a no, no.

I've no problem with education. I do have an issue with people going to phony private institutions and getting qualifications that dont mean shit.

He's going to a community college which in this country means it's a public institution.

This is really interesting though. If a trend is a true average truly global , then that trend ought to be visible across ANY subset of that data. The fact that it isnt shows that warming is only a feature of big cities. Smaller cities and rural areas dont show the trens. Therefore the trend is NOT general, it is specific. I would love to see this research blasted across all themedia, with in depth follow ups anbd discussion. It wont be, but thats the way thebias is now. -- modified at 5:57 Tuesday 27th November, 2007

Bollocks. If people were growing taller with every generation, it doesn't mean no child will be shorter than his father.

To state that the world is warming would imply that at least the majority of it is. This research suggests that the warming though is limited to large population centers and is therefore not global.
