We do have some time zone differences here, Nish. Be patient. Do you have any idea how many beers I have to drink just to be here when you finally decide to grace us with your presence? I Drowned Schroedinger's Stupid Cat!

Hindus and Jews would be a good arena game - monotheism vs polytheism. If we could ever arrange such a contest, I'd appreciate enough warning to get some bets down. Judaism was the first (as far as I know) world religion to embrace the concept of a single God, albeit a God of many faces. Hinduism (to the best of my limited knowledge) still embraces a tripartite Godhead, with a number of demigods responsible for minor duties. I don't have any problem reconciling either belief system with the Bible I read. Sadly, some people do. As a Christian, I believe that our avatar, Jesus, came to us to tell us that acceptance and respect for the belief systems of others was our duty. In answer to your query, Nish, Abraham and His covenant with God, created the Jewish nation. His offspring were His chosen people. I have no idea where Hinduism originates, except for the excellent tale told of Krishna's great battle against evil. In the Bahgvad Gita - I know I spelled that wrong, but I'm at a loss to correct it. It's been a long while since I've studied such things... But it remains one of the greatest tales ever told - I commend it to everyone's reading! I Drowned Schroedinger's Stupid Cat!

I appreciate the clarification, Nish. Obviously it's time for me to go back to my studies. My understanding is focused on Siva (pronounced Shiva here). The Destroyer, yet also the bringer of new life. I've always felt an attraction to that one, the iconoclast who breaks old traditions and forges new ones! This one is the spirit of life!:-D Shakti is the best analogue I can see to Yahweh, the god of the Jews, and the father of the Christ. It embraces all, but delegates some of its duties to subordinates... I don't know much of Shakti, but I'll be learning - thanks for the reference :-D I Drowned Schroedinger's Stupid Cat!

References are not at hand at the moment, But I have read it several times in Archaeological reports. The belief that Judaism was first, is now becoming to be believed as more wishful thinking and an assumption, than anything else. Next time I find some info I'll share it with you. The birth of Mohammed and his eventual religion is a fulfilment of Bible prophecy, as is the birth of Jesus, and His life. So I guess it depends on your POV. I think they were born to fulfil what the Bible says, but if you don't believe that, you'd probably believe that had they not been born, people would just have followed someone else. I agree - that is not what I read your first post to say. Jesus didn't accept other peoples faiths as having any validity, including those who thought they were following God. He also didn't go about attacking people, He corrected them. I guess we seem to agree, it's just that I misread your original post. Christian I am completely intolerant of stupidity.
