But the article in its true sense is bit hilarious. A little old article but one which is thought-provoking and makes us understand how IT in government functions.

That is fine when you are using it for nothing more than a desktop OS, but where they get you is support. The support for most Linux companies cost more than what Microsoft costs. And the worst thing is that with these open-source distros is that anyone can program them, and if it works it is released. This causes problems and you need some support. When these distros are running your entire server platform this can be devastating, and expensive. I have use Linux all the time for very specific applications where it is better. I would argue that there is always a time, place, and use for each OS. I use Linux for running Seti@Home, a processor expensive application, as Linux has very basic low overhead ways of setup. Windows is used for any and all servers I have and will ever setup. For schools, I think Mac does a good job, Windows does ok, and Linux as of now does bad. I have recently found Edubuntu, and education based Ubuntu distro, but have yet to try it. Overall I would say, India go back to Windows... You are the Microsoft support now anyway!!!
