no, you cannot set name to any cell and DGV cell dont have Text property, you will need to use Value

On right top of a gird an arrow mark is shown click there.Select your DataGridViewButtonColumn , in properties go to defaultcellstyle there, in NULLVALUE property add ur caption. u will get that caption displayed in ur grid button....
