How to make my web application accesible on WEB

I have a web application that i want my friends be able to access from the internet. I can access this in my network, but dont know how to make it available on the net. It might sound really amature to a lot of people but i dont know this. I have heared that we need to put the contents on global ip. ok, what does that mean?? CanAnybodyHelpPlz?? TYIA! M?
