The purpose of life. Now... lets see if this works http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/UnAnswered.aspx?fid=2605[^] p.s. I wasn't being serious. I thought it was funny that there would be a link to unanswered questions on this forum and decided to have a bit of fun.

From the perspective of some Christians and some Jews I would say Ecclesiastes 12:12-14 pretty much sums it up. Ecclesiastes was King Solomon’s attempt to find happiness by indulging in a wide variety of activities. The last verses of Ecclesiastes is his conclusion after his indulgences. 12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Isn't it just too cute that 'atheists' can't stomach their own assertions about the nature of reality, and so they constantly have to come up with this mystery-monger non-sense?

How so? Atheism represents an objective evaluation of our universe, theism is subjective. From my perspective you have succumbed to an illusion or fantasy that you have chosen to represent your world view and which, at a whim, you can choose to believe or deny anything and, further, ascribe anything that happens to an invisible entity as it suits you. Atheists, on the other hand admit to not having all the answers, revel in seeking them and refuse to ascribe supernatural explanations to anything they don't understand.

Intentionally or not on your part, this response is an equivocation. When people ask "What is the purpose of life?" they are not asking "What is the purpose of biology?" Rather, they are asking "What is the purpose of existence (of anything, and especially of me)?" The response you gave is the "Darwinist" equivocation to the question actually being asked: it's a way to say "There *is* no purpose to your existence" without forthrightly saying that.

The fuller life comes from not having to worry there is some thing "god" or whatever you want to call it looking over my shoulder always judging everything I do keeping a list of bad things I do, meaning I don't have to get justification from other like minded people (also duped into believing in some book). Also, why would i need to redeem any "points"? I don't need to keep any score cause i'm happy thinking that this life is what i've been given so I can live it how i want, as long as it doesn't affect anyone else of course. Don't want to push my values on anyone, then again you guys aren't known for that either so i guess it's a null point. You're only plaing at being religious cause you're too scared to admit you're hands not being held in everything you do.

... interesting. Or something. It's hard to tell whether that rambling was due to your piss-poor education or because you're rabid at having it pointed out that there is no point at all to your life ... and having it pointed out that you're too willfully ignorant to recognize that fact. But, let us pretend that all the ridiculous (and false!) things you managed to dump into those few sentences in your two posts are true. Let us pretend that you really do see reality as it really is, whereas I am simply deluded. Then what? Why, then nothing! You and I will both die soon enough, and soon enough after that everyone who knows us and may have loved us will also die. *EVERYTHING* will die, including "the universe," and nothing at all will be left ... were 'atheism' the truth. If 'atheism' really were the truth about the nature of reality, you have no advantage over me, whatsoever, in "seeing through the illusion" that life has meaning. In fact, as a purely objective matter in this very life, you are at a severe disadvantage did you *really* believe what you say you believe. But, you don't actually believe what you say you believe: you imagine that somehow in "seeing through the illusion" that life has any meaning you become superior to such persons as I. You really do believe that there is someone assigning a higher value and meaning to your existence than to mine. You really do imagine that Someone Permanent gives a damn about you! The simple fact is that just like all the other 'atheists' a regular person (such as I) is likely to encounter, you don't *really* believe any of the BS you spout. Moreover, you couldn't function if you did beleive it.

You pretend 'atheists' are such pussies! If you *really* believed what you say you believe, you'd realize that you don't need to give a flying fuck about "liv[ing] it how i want, as long as it doesn't affect anyone else of course." If you *really* believed what you say you believe, you'd realize that you can do whatever you want to whomever you want whenever you want, and all you need to concern yourself with is not being caught out by the "deluded ones," such as I, who will execute your pathological sorry-ass criminal self without a moment's regret.

Again, you and your stupid kind are confusing 'atheist' with 'sociopath'. Phh.

You don't understand that 'purpose' doesn't just mean 'why does your God want us here'. Either your God isn't real, or he's a real fucker.

But you still have not arrived: for ... or at least from appearances just now ... you still care that others have a correct/true understanding of you. If you still care at all about truth, than you haven't yet killed your conscience.
