Rich ?

Thx PJ ! I feel rich and I know I have a lot less than others, But I realize I have more than a majority of the worlds habitants. Some folk appear to always feel poor no matter how much or many material possessions they have. Regardz Colin J Davies

That's because they are not happy with what they have, so they think more things will make them happier. But it doesn't work that way. If you are happy with what you have in life, you will feel rich. If not, nothing you get will make you any happier.

Agreed, we are on the same wavelength today. I still am keen to make more "money" and have more toys. But I guess I have realized that it is not the core to hapiness. Other stuff counts as well. Regardz Colin J Davies

I say being rich or poor is an emotion, not a quantity. Any dissent in the rank and file ? Regardz Colin J Davies

I would call that being fulfilled not rich. Being rich or not is relative but I think most people would love to be financially secure and not having to worry about whether they're still gonna have a job tomorrow. I don't see what's wrong with people wanting to have more stuff. As long as they dont become obsessed by it ofcourse. bibamus, edamus, cras moriemur

That's rich coming from you Colin... ;P In the common sense rich equates to quantity because our pop-culture encourages loads of dosh and a minimum of emotion. I think the guy above is right though: Rather say fullfilment when you mean emotional richness and rich when you mean monetary richness. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love, and to be loved in return - Moulin Rouge Alison Pentland wrote: I now have an image of you in front of the mirror in the morning, wearing your knickers, socks and shoes trying to decided if they match!

Hmmmm, the irony is lost on me. :-) Paul Watson wrote: In the common sense rich equates to quantity because our pop-culture encourages loads of dosh and a minimum of emotion. Yes, I guess my sentiments have been flavoured by having spent time in developing places where you see real poverty and misery. ( Like you too ) And so now matter how I feel fiancially now I compare myself with others have so much less. Possibly there is a mixup between fulfillment and financial richness. ( Note: Paul there are only three letter "L"s in fulfillment, no matter how strange it appears. ) :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

Paul Watson wrote: guy above is right Of course! I'm always right! :-D. It's a question of langauage use: i prefer if we didn't override the meaning of words too much otherwise we'd all be talking without really understanding each other. Take for example the perfectly usable word gay: it used to signify happiness. Now it's been hijacked to signify homosexual, and the people wouldn't dream of using the word to signify the original meaning as they will be misunderstood. bibamus, edamus, cras moriemur

He even uses that exact example. He, and you, though are perfectly right. Especially with the word gay, such a shocking misuse. I cringe everytime an actor on screen uses the word gay in it's proper form, because you are assured that half the cinema audience will giggle obscenely. "He said gay *giggle*, what a poofter." Ugh, that gets under my skin. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love, and to be loved in return - Moulin Rouge Alison Pentland wrote: I now have an image of you in front of the mirror in the morning, wearing your knickers, socks and shoes trying to decided if they match!

10x Colin and Paul for agreeing :) Actually I was gonna use the word 'dyke'. AFAIK it refers to that thingy which keeps water from flooding land but it seems it is also used to signify lesbians. It's the fault of the politcally correct crowd: most are just left-wing psuedo-intellectuals who are spineless, soft-hearted and soft-headed and GOD do i have this irrational urge to ban them to Siberia. I buy the New Statesman (UK mag with lefty views) just to know what's the latest shit they're coming up with. Please forgive my rant. I can't help myself sometimes. bibamus, edamus, cras moriemur
