Hijacking user name
-
He enclosed the name in nested "big" and "small" tags. Note to Chris: Probably another reason why html should be stripped from member names.
Best wishes, Hans

I saw that but I didn't think that the tags would/should make a difference. I second your suggestion.

I believe, he has copied her signature also. The sig had a blogspot link which can be found in the 'hijacked' version also.

It's our old friend Henize, pimpdog, .... sad waste of space. Looks like he's violating the terms and conditions again.

When in doubt, check the profile. The kidiot can forge lots of items but the account creation date is not one of them.

This has clearly stepped up to a level where it is now affecting the site and the community. In order to project our members and our site we're talking to our legal counsel to take the appropriate next steps.

I hope your lawyers can shut him down. I'm a member of another board that's had a multiyear problem with a troll who's stopped just short of this. Fairly aggressive moderation's largely kept him out of sight. I've talked to one of the moderators who's said she can ID him consistently after only 1 or 2 posts "oh it's you again, *clickity-ban* buh-bye". Fortunately the pathological personality of a troll results in them being unable to hide themselves for any length of time.

True. It is also a proven thing that a thief always leaves behind some traces after committing its burglary. The cop can try looking out for it and catch him. Similarly, no matter, howmuchever pain the impersonator takes, it is always true that we can catch him. He can make things difficult but can not escape before the eyes of Law.

With those next steps, please strip HTML tags out of user names and don't allow it in the future. Validate all existing user names and rename the ones with html tags as "Member<

Not necessary. Just strip out the HTML tags and whatever remains would be the Member Name. Why do we want to do an extra string replacement?

Because you would wind up with lots of duplicates. Cheers, Drew.

You need not get upset because of such retarded cases. They are actually jeopardizing the tranquility of community at large. I really wonder, what do they gain with such a sadistic attitude of corrupting the messageboards with invalid content. Anyway, you would have already observed a few posts down that Chris is trying to rope in a few lawyers and legal counsel to bring sanity over the storm-affected areas.

With HTML tags, they are not the same, and so we don't have duplicates. So, I suggested renaming the display name to Member<membership no> in case of collisions.
