From the article: "Police searched Ms Sisouvanh's handbag and allegedly found gloves soaked in blood, bloody paper towels, latex gloves, a boxcutter, string, a baby bottle and baby socks." allegedly? as in ? has not been proven since this will undoubtedly go to trial?

umm no "point" i was just curious why they said "allegedly" is it because they can't say? i just didn't know.

I think the writer is just protecting himself/herself since they weren't the one's who actually found them that's why they used "allegedly". If they don't use that and the police are proven wrong, its libel for them. It's a normal practice in reports like that.

Oh, sorry... Yes, here in Australia, until someone has been tried and convicted (even if they were caught red-handed) they are described as "alleged" in the media.

I read in the paper today that a 37 yo strip club owner raped a 16 yo girl and his defence is that she came onto him. Who gives a damn ? She is 16. I also read about a farmer in Vic who hit on a 16 yo girl in Tassie via WoW, and paid for her to fly over to see him, after the father had threatened his life if he spoke to her again.

It was more an attempt to defuse than insult. Im happy to discuss differing points of view with you but I dont like to see any animosity spill over from one thread to another.
