If you don't have the creative juices needed to decide on what kind of program to write, I doubt you'll be able to write it, but I'll help you anyway. Find a program you like, and try to duplicate it by re-writing it yourself.

Point your browser to http://www.tigris.org/[^] or http://sourceforge.net/[^]. There you will find thousands of open source projects. Have a look at some of those in the categories that interests you. Many come with source code that you can investigate and learn from. When you are ready to make your mind up what you want to do, then you could use the resources of those web sites to fulfil your aspirations and by doing so, may also attract praise and criticisms as well as potential volunteers to help you.

Use a better subject line. As far as suggestion for your project, pick a topic that interests you.

Without knowing what the project is for, there's really no answer to this question. If it's a hobby project to brush up skills, you'd want to look at one thing - if it's for a dissertation for Uni, then you'd want to look at something else.
