I work for a large bank and due to the security issues common to the financial sector and I was looking for a solution that I could purchase and put behind my firewall. I found that so many CRM companies, including Salesforce, only offered a SaaS solution. I was reading about a Forrester Research survey found that only 16 percent of respondents were using or testing software-as-a-service, while 37 percent said they were not at all interested. Integration and TCO concerns, as well as limited options for customization were the top three reasons cited for not adopting SaaS, according to the survey. I liked having the option to choose one platform or the other. I found a couple of companies like Microsoft CRM and EnterpriseWizard.com that offer both platforms. It’s pretty cool that EnterpriseWizard even offers an option to start out as a SaaS model and move it behind your firewall at some later point, all with a couple mouse clicks. Cheers:)

This model is called 'host-to-buy' and is available with many vendors, including Microsoft. In this scenario, at some point in the future, the customer moves from a subscription service to an in-house configuration, with some or all of the fees paid for the hosted solution being applied towards an in-house licensing agreement. This model is a great development in SaaS CRM arena as it addresses some of the concerns raised in the Forrester survey. :)

It's better to know some of the questions than all of the answers.
