Explorer question for Vista
-
Hi all, When I open explorer in Vista it automatically expands all directories in the C: drive down to "Start Menu". Does anyone know if there is a way to customize which folders are expanded when explorer first opens? Cheers,

I don't know about expanding multiple folders, but you can use command line switches to specify which folder is selected. Windows Explorer Command-Line Options[^] For example, I personally use /e, e:\ so when I open Windows explorer, I get a default view with e:\ expanded and selected. Mark

Starts in my user's Documents folder if opened from Start Menu, Accessories, Windows Explorer. If you right-click the Start button and select Explore from the menu, then yes, it does open at Start Menu, because that's what you asked it to Explore. Select 'Computer' from the right-hand column of the Start Menu if you want to start at the top level. The only difference between this and an 'Explorer' view is now that the Folders pane is open by default when you select Explore.
