    U.K. government to partially nationalize banks[^] Some people call it the advent of socialism. But, it's the taxpayer's money. So, the taxpayer must have a say on what is done with their money.

      It's better than paying someone for bad debts then junking them. I'ts interesting to notice that Sweden did this (I believe in 1992) and in time made a profit.

        At least taxpayers get something for their money - they can expect to get that money back when the situation will be better and banks re-privatized

          We did? :~ I thought banks were deregulated back then. I must admit that I'm not 100% sure. That could've happened earlier than 1992.
